I am a professional archivist with over twenty years of experience in records management, historical research, and archival preservation. My mission is to help individuals and organisations safeguard their most valuable documents and uncover the stories they hold.
With a total of over two decades experience in archival science, library and records management, I bring a meticulous approach to preserving and organizing historical documents and records in both analog and digital formats. My passion lies in uncovering stories hidden within archives and ensuring they remain accessible for future generations.
I am an archival consultant, records manager, and information governance specialist with more than twenty years of experience in archival science, library services, and records and information management. Based in Chicago, I work with institutions, government agencies, individuals, and nonprofit – community organizations across Chicago, Jamaica, the Caribbean, and throughout the United States to design sustainable systems that preserve and provide access to historical records.
Through my consultancy, KR for the Record, I help clients transform unstructured and at-risk materials into organized, accessible, and compliant collections that support research, accountability, and storytelling. My expertise covers information governance and records compliance, retention and disposition, policy development and regulatory alignment, and audit readiness for both public and private sector organizations.
I am also skilled in digital archives management, digitization planning, and metadata quality control, with hands-on experience using tools and standards such as ArchivesSpace, ContentDM, EAD, DACS, and ISAD(G). A key part of my work is training and capacity building—empowering staff to maintain strong, sustainable stewardship of their records. I also support FOIA and Access to Information coordination, helping organizations strengthen transparency and accessibility through sound recordkeeping systems.
I hold a BA in Law from the University of London, a BA in History and an MA in Archives and Records Management from The University of the West Indies. I am a Certified Archivist and a Certified Records Analyst in the United States withe the Academy of Certified Archivists and the Institute of Certified Records Managers Respectively. Over the years, I have led archival and digitization projects in Chicago, directed records management programs within the Jamaican government, and developed educational and community-centered initiatives in public libraries.
Whether I am working with museums, government offices, or family archives, I bring a balance of global expertise and cultural sensitivity to every project—helping clients preserve their past and build systems that protect and share knowledge for generations to come.
